Andrews resident returns to serve her home community

Andrews, Texas – Waste Control Specialists (WCS) announced today that Mary Lou Morga has joined the team as a community liaison. She will assist with communications activities and serve as an accessible point of contact for the Andrews community and surrounding areas.

Morga has 15 years of experience in broadcast journalism, during which time she received an honorable mention by the Associated Press for overall reporter. She attended the University of Texas of the Permian Basin located in Odessa, earning a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in English as a Second Language (ESL).

After graduating in 2003, she worked as a translator for Telemundo 20 and Newswest 9, and later reported in English and Spanish for both news stations. She went on to anchor for Telemundo 20 and produce both the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, managing the production department from start to finish.

“We are delighted to have Mary Lou on board as our community liaison,” said WCS Senior Vice President Elicia Sanchez. “Her experience in journalism has proven her abilities as an effective communicator and we are pleased to have an Andrews local to continue strengthening our ties to the community where we live and work.”

Morga was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to migrant parents and is the fifth child in a family of six. She moved to Andrews with her family when she was two years old. She continues to give back to the town she was raised in, including volunteering at the Andrews Food Pantry.

“I’m looking forward to working with the community where I grew up,” said Morga. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a great company that has done so much in Andrews and that has promising and deliberate plans for the future.”
