On June 6, 2013, Waste Control Specialists (WCS) celebrated the long awaited opening of their Federal Waste Facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy, Los Alamos National Laboratories, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the surrounding communities spoke at the ceremony.
